Blood Rubies, also known as Rich Stones (リッチストン Ricchi Suton) in the Japanese version, are a type of valuable ruby that are located in the bottom of the Land of Gurumes.
Overview
According to Bulma, blood rubies are the most valuable jewels in the world. They are also bulletproof as Yamcha used them to survive being shot multiple times in the gut when storming Gurumes' castle. In the Ocean Group dubs, it is stated that the rubies are cursed as they turned King Gurumes into a monster appeared shortly after he discovered them.
Usage
King Gurumes ordered the extensive mining of these stones to acquire fancier food and ultimately sate his growing appetite from his mutation. As a result, entire natural landmarks and features within the Land of Gurumes were destroyed and settlements were oppressed. He also paid Bongo and Pasta in these in exchange for gathering the Dragon Balls for him. When Penny made a wish to Shenron to restore the land, all of the blood rubies were removed from the ground.
Video Game Appearances
Blood Rubies appears as a Treasure item in Dokkan Battle which can be traded at Baba's Shop for certain items including Gurumes Warrioress Pasta character cards. It can be acquired in the Story Event "Curse of the Blood Rubies" in Stage 5: "To the Land of Gurumes!".
Trivia
- Frieza describes Planet Vegeta as looking like a blood ruby, shortly before destroying it. However, this is probably a generic description, rather than being a reference to the Blood Rubies featured in Curse of the Blood Rubies.
